The New York Public Library (NYPL) has renamed its Center for Research in the Humanities to the Vartan Gregorian Center for Research in the Humanities to honor the former president’s transformative contributions. Vartan Gregorian’s leadership revitalized the library, enhancing access, modernizing facilities, and strengthening its role as a cultural and academic hub. His legacy now lives on through this newly named center, fostering scholarship for generations to come. Similarly, Eustis Chair has put its mark on the NYPL as well, as the company selected to exclusively make the Rose Reading Room Chair (also sometimes referred to as the NYPL chair).
Rose Reading Room Chair
Eustis Chair is proud to have produced furniture for several prominent NYPL spaces, including the iconic Rose Main Reading Room. The chairs we built for the NYPL are designed to balance durability, sustainability, and timeless elegance, creating a comfortable environment for scholars, visitors, and researchers alike. Of course, every Eustis Chair product is proudly made in America. The Rose Reading Room chairs reflect the enduring values of public learning and cultural preservation, ensuring they will serve NYPL’s needs for decades.
In addition to the Rose Reading Room, Rose Reading Room chairs can also be found throughout several other key spaces at the NYPL’s Stephen A. Schwarzman Building:
- Rooms 217 and 219
- Shoichi Noma Reading Room
- Room 223 (back section)
- Room 228W, the Wertheim Study
Blending Tradition with Modern Needs
These spaces, steeped in history, benefit from the same thoughtful design and craftsmanship that define Eustis Chair’s work. Whether in high-use public areas or private research spaces, Eustis Chair products enhance the library’s environment, blending tradition with modern utility.
The renaming of the Vartan Gregorian Center and the collaboration between NYPL and Eustis Chair exemplify our shared commitment to fostering education, culture, and sustainability. We are honored to be part of the journey that preserves the past and inspires the future.
