Carleton College Dining Hall Renovation

Carleton College, in Northfield, Minnesota, has about 2000 students on campus. The town of Northfield has about 20,000 residents total. The college is only 40 miles to St. Paul and Minneapolis. They have students from all 50 states on campus. The college offers 33 majors and over 1000 classes, which is a lot of offerings for a college this size. The college describes their model as “a true Liberal Arts education.” The college has a lot to be proud of. We are certain they are also proud of their newest dining hall. This dining hall renovation includes a bar stool, side chair, and arm chair order by Eustis Chair.

Cornell University is one of the greats. The university is in Ithaca, New York. Founded in 1865 by Ezra Cornell and Andrew Dickson White, it opened in 1868. Simmons University in Boston recently worked with Boston based architects Fletcher Harkness Cohen & Moneyhum. The goal is creating a special interior for the new university library. The University of Vermont

The University of Vermont issued its PO today for 104 of our Fairfield chairs. The university ordered the chairs in natural Cherry and natural maple, for an understated yet elegant look. The chairs will fill the university’s new Dana Medical Library. In addition, it did not take long for the committee to decide on these chairs. The committee wanted chairs that were both elegant and fit into the library, and also comfortable. Luckily, our fairfield fit the bill.

Bridgewater State University issued its purchase order today for 88 Charleston chairs for the first phase of its major project. The renovation is for Bridgewater’s Maxwell Library renovation. The Purchasing people at Bridgewater State were very pleased to purchase these elegant and durable university library chairs. Furthermore, they purchased them through Massachusetts Higher Education Consortium. This avoided the many pitfalls of public bidding.

Suffolk County Courthouse

Five years of renovations to the nineteenth century Suffolk County Superior Courthouse in Boston are nearing completion. Furthermore, the 100 year-old courtrooms were equipped today with new chairs built by Eustis Chair. The Suffolk courthouse chair pictured at the top is an exact replica of the chairs installed in this venerable building in the late 1800’s. We were happy to recreate the old Suffolk County chair. In fact, most of the chairs in our line were created because of a customer request. Though it takes a little more time to build a chair from scratch, customers are always extremely happy with the finished product. In the courthouses case, their old chairs were falling apart. Their joints were wearing out and breaking at the points of pressure. Therefore, we built their new chairs with our patented Eustis Joint®.

Detroit Public Library

Donars officially opened the Robert and Rose Skillman branch of the Detroit Public Library today. This elegant Arts & Crafts era library was made possible by a generous bequest from the Skillman family. Better yet, the new library features a custom chair designed and built by Eustis Chair. Therefore, we named the chair after the Skillman family. The Skillman Chair is made of Quartersawn White Oak. Furthermore, it features the pinned mortise & tenon construction used at the turn of the 20th century.

Oldest US Law Library

The 200 year-old Jenkins Law Library is located in Philadelphia, PA. In fact, it is just three blocks from Independence Hall. Near the final stages of an interior library renovation, Library Director Regina Smith sat in scores of chairs before making a decision. Of course, after discovering the perfect blend of elegance, comfort and durability of Eustis Chairs, she was sold. She fell in love with the new Jenkins Eustis model. The design team, Robert Stern and Eustis chair, created a solid Walnut chair. The new Eustis Chair will reside in the striking $95 million building.
