Chippendale Chair
The Chevy Chase Club, located in Chevy Chase, Maryland, has been an institution since 1892. Located just outside Washington D.C., the club offers a relaxing place for members and guests to unwind. The hallmarks of the club are the tradition of civility, a celebration of family, and commitment to service and facilities. Those facilities include their elegant banquet facility. The members at the Chevy Chase Club wanted an elegant Chippendale chair for their banquet facility.
Chippendale Chairs, named for Thomas Chippendale, an English cabinet maker. They were at the height of popularity in the 18th Century. Furniture made in the distinct Chippendale style eventually spread all the way to the new American colonies. According to Encyclopaedia Britannica, “Probably the best-known Chippendale design is a broad-seated ribbon back chair, with a back rail in the form of a cupid’s bow, and the pierced splat (center support in the back) composed of carved interlacing ribbons.”
Lastly, club management wanted the convenience of a stacking chair. Therefore, designer Augusta Moravec found Eustis Chair’s University Club stacking chair. It oozes elegance and comfort. This is just the fit for a 110-year-old club near our Nation’s capital. Our Chippendale is a solid Cherry chair. It stacks 6 to 8 chairs high. Finally, because it’s complete with our Eustis Joint, Eustis, it comes with a 20-year warranty.
