This elegant, contemporary version of the classic "schoolhouse chair" was designed for the College of Charleston, and is as comfortable as it is distinctive. The steel rods and high-strength epoxy of our patented Eustis Joints allowed us to remove the unsightly stretchers without compromising the strength and durability of the chair. As with all of our Eustis Joint chairs, the warranty covers the first 20 years, but the owner can reasonably expect many decades of useful service life.

This contemporary version of the classic "schoolhouse chair" has turned heads since its introduction last year. And the best part is that the entire chair is engineered with our patented Eustis Jointฎ, so the chair is as durable as it is elegant.

This chair is a handsome and durable reproduction of the chair used by Thomas Edison for his 1878 New Jersey laboratory, where he invented the incandescent light bulb. Harvard University chose this chair for their $28 million restoration of Memorial Hall, creating what is arguably the most beautiful college dining hall in America. The Edison Chair is offered only in American Ash, but it can be stained to match most other hardwoods.

Fairfield Chair

Fairfiled Chair

This chair is an adaptation of the styles of Wright, Greene and Stickley from the Arts & Crafts movement of the early 1900s. True to that period, the box-frame design and mortise and tenon construction combine to produce an elegant chair that is durable enough to withstand decades of rigorous use. The original Fairfield is built of red oak, but it can be made in other hardwoods. Like most of our chairs, the Fairfield is also available with a wooden seat.

Fairfield Arm Chair

The Fairfield chair was our very first library chair, but was not built in an arm chair version for several years. Like all of our arm chairs, the arms are attached to this chair with our patented Eustis Jointฎ, a system using concealed steel rods and high-strength epoxy to create a joint that is stronger than the hardwood from which the chair is manufactured.

Fairfield Youth Chair

Fairfield Youth Chair

For the library that wants to carry the style of its adult furniture into the youth area, we can adapt most of our designs to the 16" seat height of a youth chair. Naturally, it is not as simple as simply lowering the legs, as every part of the chair needs to be redesigned. We were very pleased with the elegance of the Fairfield Youth chair; and because the joinery is the same as its adult cousin, this chair will handle many decades of hard, teenager use.

The Novato is an adaptation of our popular Fairfield Chair. A west coast client needed to bring down the cost, so we eliminated the curve in the back slats. This gave it a more traditional Arts & Crafts look, particularly when done in Quartersawn White Oak, with very little sacrifice in comfort.

Re-creation of this elegant design called for the old-world craftsmanship of Eustis Chair.
